The other day, I agreed to be in a triathlon with some friends. No, the triathlon wasn't the other day, but I agreed to it the other day. The triathlon is in September. But the problem here is that I'm not in fighting shape.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not in awful shape, but I'm not the man I used to be, when I would do tae kwon do, play volleyball, and swim for a total of about 4 or 5 hours most days. This means that I have work to do so that I can handle the rigors of a triathlon, starting from where I am now.
I had meant to start yesterday, thinking that I needed to do something every day. Instead, I took the less stress option and watched Lost. But as yesterday was April Fool's, someone decided to complete the wall surrounding my cubicle, filling in the opening to get in. As a result, in order to get to or leave my desk, I had to jump a 5 foot wall. By the end of the day, I was tired of jumping and now my legs are sore.
So this blog is going to shift away from my adventures on public transit and I'm going to start capturing my efforts to get into shape for a backpacking expedition this summer and a triathlon this fall. I'm hoping to make this a look into what I'm doing, in case you feel seized by the same insanity to be in a triathlon.
